Details
'Windsong' is a beautiful 1960 Herreshoff H28 Ketch with heaps of great South Australian history. She is a beautifully built yacht of Jarrah construction. The builder, a local Brighton boat builder known as Mr Clarke. On her Madden voyage the quality and style of her was noticed by Arthur Cox who purchased her and sailed her for many years following. Arthur Cox was the commodore of the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron for well over 20 years and his boat was a big part of the RSAYS history. This boat was admired by many and since that day has placed well in many wooden boat festivals in Adelaide and interstate. In her more recent history Trevor Chilman owned her for 8-10 years and the current owner has owned her for the last 2. The only reason for this regrettable sale is the owner has moved interstate and is unable to love and sail her the way she should be loved and sailed. There is something incredible about timber Yachts anyone who has owned or sailed one would agree they seem to talk to you, they feel beautiful going through the water and they are built to last. With a bit of love they give you a great deal of pleasure and they are always a great conversation piece. Windsong is turning 60 this year she looks great for her age which is a credit to all that have loved her.
